Implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using an Authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) to enhance the security of user accounts by requiring a second form of verification in addition to the traditional username and password. MFA should be optional for the user.

What about doing away with all providers and offering a passkey system? No need to rely on external auth providers?

Caleb , that's a great suggestion. Passkeys are indeed a technically better solution and fully compatible with our Auth.js setup. However, the challenge lies in their limited widespread adoption. Once passkeys become more common, we'll definitely integrate them, but for now, we'll have to hold off.
